Compensation: Antioch University offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes both direct and indirect pay. The compensation will be based on experience, education, knowledge, credentials, and a consideration of the difficulty and complexity of the position. The typical hiring range for this position is: $180,000 to $200,000.

Position Overview

Antioch University seeks an experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with teaching experience to serve as the inaugural CRNA Program Chair in its newly established Graduate School of Nursing and Health Professions (GSNHP), which opens Fall 2024. The Program Chair will plan, implement, and provide leadership for a new CRNA Program. In collaboration with the founding Dean of the School of Nursing & Health Professions, faculty, and staff, the CRNA Program Chair will contribute to the development of the GSNHP mission, vision, and values.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Administration

The full-time Program Chair has responsibility and authority for the overall administration and implementation of the Nurse Anesthesiology (NA) educational program in accordance with the requirements and policies of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), the University, the School, and the clinical affiliates.

• Identify and secure affiliation agreements with clinical sites and coordinate placements at clinical sites.
• Cultivate and maintain partnerships and other relationships in support of the CRNA Program and Graduate School of Nursing & Health Professions.

Accreditation

• Assist the Dean and the Chair of the Department of Nursing to acquire and maintain DNP accreditation.
• Facilitate and maintain the COA accreditation process.
• Maintain standards necessary to fully complete reports required by COA.
• Maintain current documentation and records necessary to successfully complete the self-study process as required by COA.
• Submit an annual report to the COA.

Budget & Resources

• Collaborate with the Dean of the School and the Divisional Dean to develop and manage the program budget in alignment with the divisional budget.
• Oversee acquisition of educational resources needed for the CRNA program.

Curriculum & Teaching

• Oversee development and review of CRNA didactic and clinical curriculum; recommend changes as necessary.
• Teach DNP CRNA courses using best practices for nurse education.
• Chair DNP project teams.
• Supervise CRNA Program assessment.
• Prepare CRNA course schedules and assign CRNA teaching responsibilities in step with the Divisional Dean.

Faculty & Staff

• Hire, orient, and evaluate the assistant director, faculty, and clinical staff for the CRNA Program.
• Coordinate orientation into the CRNA Program.
• Coordinate regular staff meetings alone or in collaboration with all graduate nursing programs.

Research/Service/Committees

• Maintain an active program of scholarship/research to contribute to nursing science and the translation of research evidence into practice.
• Maintain nursing practice to maintain certification, licensure, and currency.
• Serve on college and university committees.

Student Recruitment and Advising

• Contribute to recruitment of students.
• Serve as the lead on the admission of candidates.
• Advise/oversee advising of CRNA students; provide policy and procedure information to new and continuing students.
• Review graduate student petitions for admissions, transfer credit, and academic appeals.

Admissions/Outreach/Marketing/Communication

• Work with University offices and graduate recruiters to assure accuracy of web and catalog content related to graduate programs.
• Advise the marketing team on content for marketing materials.

Policy and Procedure

• Develop CRNA policy and procedures in alignment with Nursing division procedures and COA requirements.
• Review CRNA policy regularly; revise as needed.
• Contribute to development of Graduate School of Nursing & Health Professions policies.
• Contribute to development of CRNA admissions policy.
• Ensure that student records and other necessary documentation are maintained and up to date.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and problem solver who can interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community. This individual will work well independently and collaboratively; be an effective team builder; and have analytical and organizational skills necessary for planning, implementing, and evaluating CRNA Program activities.

Required Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP, DNAP, or Ph.D., or equivalent)
• Active license without unresolved Board action to practice as a RN in Ohio and current certification as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA)
• 3-5 years of CRNA practice
• Experience in CRNA Program development, evaluation, and accreditation
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice
• Competence in and current knowledge of educational principles and techniques used in higher education classrooms, laboratories, and clinical settings

Hours of Employment

This is a full-time, exempt, faculty position serving a national university which operates in multiple time zones. A work schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor. Up to one day per week for additional clinical practice possible.

Work Location

Anywhere within the continental United States, either from a home office or at a campus or University location. Some travel required to University Campuses and other locations.

The Antioch CRNA Program will be a new program built on the success of Otterbein University’s existing CRNA Program, scheduled for closure in May 2026. The new CRNA Program will share some courses with existing DNP, FNP, and PMHNP programs, which will be offered online. Some CRNA-specific courses and all clinicals will be in person.
