Description

The Associate Underwriter supports our organization through creation of dental product pricing and related analytics. This position works closely with Sales to provide pricing solutions for new and existing clients. Also, this role provides analytical support for Underwriting and organizational-level projects.

The pay range for this position In Western Washington varies between $52,140.00 – $72,930.00, and for Eastern Washington varies between $47,400.00 – $66,300.00. Washington Dental Service and its affiliates, including Delta Dental of Washington and Arcora Foundation intends to offer the selected candidate a base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. Base pay will also be adjusted based on the candidate's geographic location.

Essential Responsibilities include the following: The list of responsibilities listed is not intended to be comprehensive.   • Performs key underwriting functions including development of new and existing dental product pricing for all lines of business
  • Works closely with sales personnel on individual group analyses and requests
  • Gather and synthesize insights and possible solutions that have a direct effect on our clients and members
  • Prepares cost-experience reports on various products/groups
  • Conducts ad-hoc analysis in support of core underwriting activities, including analysis of experience and trends
  • Maintains documentation of historical assumptions and recommendations

Experience, skills, and education do you need to have to succeed in the position: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Economics, statistics, or a related field
  • 0-2 years underwriting or analytical experience in an insurance environment.
  • Prior experience working in a regulated industry and/or healthcare industry preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding planning, analytical, and organization skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Products; with emphasis using Microsoft Excel
