Description

Position: Summer Surveying Internship (Full Time)

Travel: primary locations Newark, DE

We are currently looking for Interns pursuing an A.S. or B.S. in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology or Surveying. Would consider candidate in certification program for Surveying to join our Wagman Heavy Civil team. Reporting to direct field supervision, the Intern will be assigned various tasks from management and work with the engineering and surveying team on the assigned project. Tasks may include but are not limited to reviewing drawings and specs, site walk through's, setting up of GPS equipment, surveying different areas of the project and more. The ideal candidate should be able to take and follow instructions as well as be able to work independently and communicate effectively. This position works alongside the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction projects and ensures all plans move forward to meet projected deadlines in safe manner. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Core competencies include: design-build, infrastructure, marine construction, modified concrete, grooving and grinding, and geotechnical construction services.

The following essential functions will be performed under the general direction of managers in various departments of the company:

  • Assist on preparing work plans.
  • Assist project surveyor with layouts
  • Assist in setting up and utilizing GPS equiplment, TotalStation etc.
  • Track and record field production quantities
  • Procuring materials and equipment for upcoming work
  • Perform schedule updates
  • Will perform takeoffs

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
  • Frequent standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
  • Acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing required.
  • Must have the ability to work on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather
