We are seeking a talented Project Engineer to join our Prototyping Division at our Hampton, Virginia headquarters. The Project Engineer for Prototyping Operations will oversee all aspects of the prototyping projects from conception through to completion. This role involves managing project timelines, coordinating between different engineering disciplines, ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards, and managing the project budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering management and a proven track record in leading multidisciplinary engineering projects. Responsibilities Project Planning and Management: Develop detailed project plans that outline all project phases, deliverables, and timelines. Monitor project progress against these plans, making adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines and budget constraints. Team Coordination and Leadership: Lead and coordinate teams of engineers, including mechanical, electrical, and mechatronics engineers, ensuring effective collaboration and communication across all project stages. Resource Allocation: Manage the allocation of resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment, to ensure efficient project execution. Quality Control: Implement quality control processes to ensure that all prototypes meet the required standards and specifications. Address any issues that arise during the prototyping phase promptly. Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Liaise with vendors and suppliers to secure materials and services. Maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including senior management, to ensure project alignment with business objectives. Risk Management: Identify potential risks to the project and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards. Reporting and Documentation: Provide regular updates on project status to senior management and other stakeholders. Ensure thorough documentation of all project activities and outcomes for reference and auditing purposes. Innovation and Process Improvement: Drive innovations in project management and prototyping processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of project delivery. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics. PMP certification or equivalent is highly desirable. Extensive experience in project management, specifically in an engineering or manufacturing environment. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in project management software and tools.
