A Cloud Systems Administrator is responsible for working in a mixed Azure Cloud and Unix software environment. The responsibility of the individual is to manage the instances of the cloud infrastructure services and the multiple cloud servers. The professional also leads, oversees and maintains, multiuser computing environment as per the requirements of the organization.

The cloud systems administrator will have to develop, configure, implement and manage the systems that comprise the underlying cloud platform. The professional assists in setting up public or private cloud systems. They have to learn how to balance workload and deploy them in an automated way. The individual should monitor and alter the systems as per the prescribed methodology.

The Cloud System Administrator is the one who establishes and executes the cloud operations as per the specifications and parameters. They should select the cloud providers as well keeping in mind the requirements. The technicians must implement cost-effective cloud-based systems that will fulfill the technical requirements of the organization.

TRADOC G2 maintains the integrity/availability of systems and host infrastructure by implementing, testing, documenting, and assessing solutions to capability gaps using internally created and/or commercial off-the-shelf components and best practice techniques.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • The primary job responsibilities of the cloud administrator are to work in coordination with the IT department to develop and support cloud, Azure or Unix infrastructure. Provide technical assistance on windows, cloud-based systems, and resolve operational problems. The professional will also assist in the administration of cloud service and a Windows server environment
  • The cloud administrator is the go-to personnel to resolve and provide any assistance about system problems. The professional looks into the configuration and network security of the systems to make sure they are working correctly, and they are up to date. It is also the individual's responsibility to manage and upgrade operating systems.
  • Monitors and analyzes the capabilities and performance of the systems. Compare, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and integrate systems into the computing environment. Document systems infrastructure for the convenience of the users.
  • Provides all the necessary assistance to the cloud servers, including security configurations, patching, and troubleshooting. The personnel also help to maintain system security strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Translate user desires into functional objectives, technical specifications, and implementation approaches to rapidly drive convergence towards the best DOTMLPF solution for the operating and fiscal environment.
  • Consistently apply standards-based approaches, analysis of alternatives and delivery/integration choices to insert technology and best practices into constrained operating and supported environments.
  • Provide support for field events, solve issues, and collaborate with other product assessment and delivery organizations in DHS, DoD and industry.
  • Full lifecycle system integration including Security Engineering (DISA IASE and Common Criteria compliance), product analysis, requirements analysis, system risk analysis, and reliability analysis.
  • Integrate technologies and techniques with existing systems; evaluate and identify new technologies for integration. Maintain Army and DoD standards compliance traceability. Conduct Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability and automation. Prepare engineering/test/delivery plans and site installation packages.
  • Coordinate with Capability Integrators and IT service providers for restoration, recovery, and business continuity prioritization. Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations; determine hardware and software requirements related to such changes.
  • Prepare/present milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations on the system test and evaluation concept to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives.

Background requirements

  • 8+ years of strong, hands-on DoDAF- and NSA Common Criteria- or DISA IASE-compliant system of system integration.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, electronics, or telecommunications preferred.
  • The individual in this position must have strong technical knowledge of virtual machines (IaaS, Writing Code (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS)
  • Test and delivery support in Maintenance. Spiral, Incremental or Agile models in federal environments.
  • Experience with VMWare, Red Hat LINUX, and/or RHEV
  • Excellent team player with strong collaboration skills to lead cross functional teams on multi-team projects; strong sense of commitment and responsibility
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; experience building scalable, distributed, high availability services; enjoy technical challenges and constantly striving to improve existing services, systems, and techniques.

Conditions of Hire

  • CompTIA Security + and 2nd technical certificate (IAT II level compliance with DOD 8140.01); functions in Army Privileged User role.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator (Associate or Master)
  • Eligible for a Secret Clearance
  • Valid US passport for travel internationally; 25% travel frequency expectation
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required.
