Job Summary
The University of Kentucky is seeking highly qualified applicants to fill the position of Environmental Quality Management Director. The University of Kentucky is a comprehensive land grant university with medical, academic, research and service facilities.

Minimum qualifications for the position include a Master’s degree and six years of experience. PE, PG or CHMM preferred.

The Environmental Quality Management Director:

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local compliance requirements for asbestos, PCB, and UST management; lead paint, SPCC and numerous other EPA programs; shipping hazardous materials in accordance with DOT/IATA; program development, education and training, recordkeeping, filing required reports, managing permits, negotiating fines and penalties.
  • Directs all operations associated with the pick-up, storage, treatment, and shipment of all UK hazardous, radioactive, and medical waste and the waste minimization program; develops policies and procedures, trains generators, and oversees storage facilities; manages vendor contracts, monitors performance, and audits facilities.
  • Provides first response for hazardous materials incidents on campus; manages and directs environmental remediation projects; responsible for site investigation, plan preparation, consultant management, and report preparation.
  • Includes asbestos abatement and removal for all University units.
  • Provides environmental management services for University units to include environmental assessments of property; sampling, testing and analysis of environmental media; regulatory interpretation.
  • Is responsible for all aspects of personnel (13 employees) and budget ($3,000,000) management for the department; reports to EHS Executive Director.
