Position Summary

The Children’s Center is designed for short hour and full-day care for students, staff and faculty who need 8 or more hours of child care each week. Hours are reserved each term to accommodate family schedule needs. The Children’s Center is recruiting for three temporary Early Childhood Assistant Teachers for a three month period.
Minimum Qualifications from Classification
The temporary Early Childhood Assistant Teachers will work cooperatively with the other classroom teachers to support the childcare program.
* AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
* One full year of continuous teaching experience with infants and toddlers in an early childhood center. The temporary Early Childhood Assistant Teacher must : -maintain continuous enrollment in the Office of Child Care Central Background Registry; -be current with Infant-Child First Aid/ CPR; -have a current Oregon Food Handler’s card; -be trained in and know the state laws regarding reporting suspected child abuse.
* BA or BA in progress in
ECE, Child Development, Child, Youth and Family Studies is strongly preferred.
Key Cultural Competencies
* Knowledge and experience with RIE and Reggio-inspired teaching practices.
Contributes to a culture of environmental stewardship, practices resource conservation, and actively works toward achieving long-term sustainability goals.
Work Days/HoursMonday to Friday between 20 and 40 hours per week, schedule to be determined.Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The salary rate for this temporary position will be $16.60. The salary may be negotiable above this rate, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
