Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O&M); weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M; technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. SA-TECH provides operations, maintenance and sustainment of Air Combat Command and Air Force Global Strike Command Primary Training Ranges (PTRs) which consist of Electronic Warfare Ranges, Electronic Warfare Sites, and Bombing and Gunnery Ranges. The ranges accommodate basic to intermediate level air-to-surface training. Our Ranges vary in their size, complexities and capabilities and contain target arrays, remote-control moving land targets, electronic and passive threat simulators, and weapons scoring systems.


We are currently looking to hire a General Maintenance Worker (GMW) for a full-time, non-exempt position at our work site at the PTR at Holloman AFB, NM.


The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, welding and electrical work.

  • Occasionally operates farm tractors.
  • Performs target construction and demolition.
  • Drains fluids and removes glass and other materials from target salvage.
  • Trains for fire prevention and suppression as a Wild Land Firefighter.
  • Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Uses plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Paints structures and equipment.
  • Repairs or replaces concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hangs doors and installs door locks.
  • Replaces broken window panes.
  • Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

The following job functions are a basic requirement but other duties may also be assigned:

  • Operate tools and use supplies in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment assigned in good repair.
  • Store tools and supplies in a safe manner with a neat appearance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections daily and documents all maintenance.
  • Prepare targets for purging, welding/torch operations and associated build-up procedures.
  • Have a working knowledge of various welding operations.
  • Assist in the operation and repair of road gates and night lighting systems.
  • Perform house and grounds keeping as well as other duties as directed.
  • Perform maintenance and construction to include disking, plowing, filling, hand policing, and changing target configuration/panels.
  • Respond to Range fires.
  • Supplement or assist other labor categories IAW CBA.
  • Perform range clearance and maintenance. Range clearance and maintenance requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching and lifting in an outdoor environment.
  • Perform grounds maintenance, housekeeping, window washing and janitorial duty.
  • Perform all additional duties as instructed by management IAW CBA.
  • Be trained and be qualified to climb towers and work in high places.
  • Provide own transportation to and from work.

Work Conditions:

  • Performs work indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, work in elevated areas and confined spaces and the must have the capability to work on high voltage and radio frequency circuits.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Job demands will require physical dexterity and flexibility.
  • Must be physically able to sit, stand, kneel and climb
  • Subject to high noise levels and vibration.
  • Required to work under stress.
  • Subject to call at all hours.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High School Diploma
  • Proven ability to perform the aforementioned responsibilities.
  • Have and maintain Basic EMT license (for as long as required by government contract).
  • Possess a current Wild Land firefighter certificate.
  • Be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing steps 70 feet high.
  • Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • Forklift Operator license required.
  • Class A license required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
