Position Description

Tacoma Power is seeking a high performing, critically thinking, analytical, experienced self-starter to join the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Team. This position will also assume duties as a project lead, providing work coordination and technical program oversight to staff assigned to Tacoma Power's Joint Use Pole Attachment Program.

In addition, the position will have responsibilities to provide work coordination, evaluate priorities, and provide mentorship and general program direction to employees assigned to Tacoma Power's Joint Use Pole Attachment Program. This team is responsible for managing pole attachment agreements and analyzing requests for attachment to Tacoma Power poles. Staff also support GIS data analytics, creation of notifications, work orders, invoices, and financial reports through the use of the enterprise resource planning software (SAP).

This position provides technical program oversight and performs complex analytical and reporting functions in support of Tacoma Power's Joint Use Program. This position will also be a subject matter expert in implementing a technology solution to support electronic joint use application processing to offer better visibility, increased functionality and program efficiencies.

Essential functions of this position include technical joint use program oversight in support of Tacoma Power's Joint Use Pole Attachment Program. Functions will include project management and work direction associated with implementation of a technology solution that offers fully electronic joint use application submittals, reviews and processing. Duties may include work direction, organization and delegation. In addition, this position will perform data extraction, analytics and reporting for the Joint Use Program. This position will be a key role in integrating and validating joint use attachment data in Tacoma Power's mapping system and extracting inventories. Other related activities include but are not limited to:
  • Steering Committee Member for Tacoma Power's GIS Modernization Project
  • Metrics Reporting and Forecasting
  • Program Facilitator and Process Improvement
  • Research and Revenue Reporting in Support of Budget Review and Preparation
  • Project Lead
  • Facilitate Project Status Meetings with Stakeholders, Project Team Members and Sponsors
  • Data Inventory Management
  • Compile Reports and Prepare Presentations
  • Lead the Development of Business Processes and Procedures


Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree typically required
  • Five years experience conducting research and analyzing policies, laws, rules, or regulations, conducting financial auditing and management studies, managing and overseeing programs, specialized or technical work processes, standards, regulations and systems.
Our Ideal Applicant will Possess:
  • Experience with analyzing data, financial reporting, data inventory management and program auditing (e.g., Excel, Access, SAP etc.).
  • Ability to negotiate and develop relationships with contracting parties.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize multiple assignments, complex assignments, and competing priorities to produce accurate products on time.
  • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional work teams in the development and implementation of efficiencies.
  • The successful candidate must have exceptional analytical and decision making skills, the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to lead staff, deliver assignments and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Knowledge of SAP customer service module
