Interested in an opportunity to learn and work with a variety of technologies across a broad platform? At the University of Minnesota - Office of Information Technology, we currently seek a Web Conferencing and Video Event Support technician to join a team that helps customers build positive experiences with video technology to further progress the research, education, and outreach missions for the institution. As part of the team, you would use your unique talents to design and oversee live event productions and online meetings, as well as problem-solve and attend to customers' concerns empathetically and with compassion. This position will provide an opportunity to work with multiple groups within the IT Service Desk, as well as customers across the University.

  • Composure when operating in a busy environment and ability to effectively manage time while working on multiple priorities.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage high-stakes clients and vendors for successful event management.
  • Translate business needs into functional requirements, collaborating with customers' event planning team as necessary.
  • Manage technology aspects of live events real time both remotely and in person.
  • Use a ticketing system to respond efficiently and accurately to customer questions, concerns, and requests received via phone, email and chat.
  • Monitor incident resolution and meet service expectations.
  • Recommend hardware upgrades and ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
  • Help create, document, and implement new solutions for technology knowledge documents.
  • Serve as an escalation point for staff regarding sensitive, unresolved and/or complex issues.


Required Qualifications (please document on resume):
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR a comparable combination of education, experience, and/or training to total 4 years.
  • Experienced with all aspects of digital video production including producing, shooting, editing and lighting.
  • Working knowledge of video publishing systems and technologies..
  • Flexible schedule and on-call availability for on-site events.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy production equipment on a regular basis.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
