The Opportunity

If you are reading this, we could guess that you have a passion for serving customers and working with your hands to solve puzzles! On a given day, as our Controls Service Technician you might find yourself:

• Recognizing and taking corrective actions to unsafe work conditions or practices.
• Using CAD, database systems and available resources to make layouts, evaluate control systems, analyze, and generate new designs.
• Testing and evaluating prototypes and products
• Performing service on equipment manufactured, sold and/or leased by JBT
• Conducting final inspection, installation, and commissioning of new and/or rebuilt JBT equipment
• Answering inquiries concerning equipment and forward to the appropriate departments in JBT
• Traveling to customer sites to perform controls start-up and troubleshooting of food processing equipment and operator training
• Working on industrial control systems and related test equipment including PLC’s, PC’s, loop controllers, control valves, level probes, flow meters, RTD’s and other miscellaneous hardware
• Writing PLC programs to control various equipment
• Creating functional OIT screens for operator interaction
• Assisting with development of quotes

Qualifications

The Challenge

To thrive, you should have:

• A mechanical background with at least 2 years of field experience and customer interaction
• Experience in machine assembly, light fabrication, welding, and machine tool operation
• A strong electrical wiring, schematic reading, and troubleshooting experience
• A basic PLC understanding
• Field Service Retort controls & startup
• Be able to read and understand drawings, blueprints, and mechanical assemblies
• Experience working with contractors on all phases of project installation and startup

• Associate in science (AS) degree
• Maintain knowledge of JBT equipment and upgrades, administrative requirements, and company travel alerts and restrictions.
• Effectively interact with all functional areas of the business
• Contribute to improvements in internal processes and standards to ensure efficient development of systems and products to meet business and customer expectations.
• Assist in conducting training schools on equipment
• Lead or assist in the planning and supervision of sub-contract labor
• Train new service personnel as required

Education & Travel

You have a High School Diploma or GED

You have a valid driver’s license

Locations

This position is remote, and you must be able to travel domestically 80% of time. Ideally, you are in Philadelphia, PA.
